Low Harm Intruder Deterrent Fence Spikes

Lots of pain, but no harm to intruders, trespassers and some animals

There are only three (3) reasons for erecting a fence

1. PRIVACY
2. SECURITY
3. CONTROL.

Fences are almost exclusively intended “NOT TO BE CLIMBED”.

Intruding on home owners’ privacy and security is an aggressive undesirable act which should be both deterred and prevented, wherever possible!

Thorny Devil fence spikes protect people, property and even potential climbers (from accidental falls or from the risks resulting from unauthorized climbing, intrusion and confrontation).

Thorny Devil spiked fence capping is designed not to harm, but still deter effectively, as follows;

1. The capping is quite visible.
2. The spikes are very prickly to a preliminary touch.
3. There is pain inflicted by the climber on themselves as or if they put their weight through the spikes.
4. Warning Signs may also advise of the Thorn Devil fence capping.

** Fences are there to protect privacy and security. They are “not to be climbed”.

Climbers who are ‘willfully invading the privacy’ or ‘challenging the security’ of the persons protected by the fence deserve to be challenged.

Having ‘Thorny Devils’ fitted causes climbers to choose to willfully inflict pain on themselves. That’s against their own natural instincts.

We recommend installers use warning signs as well, where practical.

News & Feedback

  • A) The thorns are short and their apex is purposely made with a radius.
    B) Any painful effect can only be due to pressure applied to the thorns and as cats & possums only weigh a small amount, they are unable to exert harmful pressure.
    C) The thorns are spaced to ensure that animals are made uncomfortable, yet not hurt.
    D) Cats and possums have very keen eyesight and excellent survival skills. They easily recognize the Thorny Devil spikes from a distance; and once they have encountered them, they generally choose to modify their behaviour.
    E) Thorny Devils are low harm, obvious and benign.
